A student card is checked at a gate by someone glancing at it for a second, so the name and the class have to be the two things that read first. These four put them there and keep the rest small.
They are set at the standard 85 by 54mm card size, with a portrait option for lanyards. A space is left for a photograph to be attached after printing, which is how most schools do it.
