Instagram Post Templates
An Instagram post is seen at about the size of a matchbox before anyone decides to stop, so the headline has to survive being small. These four are set with that in mind: short lines, high contrast, and nothing fussy at the edges where the crop can bite.
Square is the default and portrait at 1080 by 1350 is in the editor, which takes more room in the feed. Both download at full resolution.
The same design switches to a story without a redesign, and uploading a bigger file does not make either one sharper - the reasons are in social media image sizes.

Common questions
What size is an Instagram post?
1080 by 1080 for square and 1080 by 1350 for portrait. Portrait takes more vertical space in the feed, which is why most brands now post it.
Why does my text look small in the feed?
Because the feed shows the post at roughly a third of its real size. If the headline is not readable when you shrink the preview to the width of your thumb, shorten it rather than making the type bigger.
Can I use the same design for a story?
Switch the size to 9:16 in the editor and the layout re-flows for it. Keep the important part in the middle - the top and bottom of a story are covered by the interface.
